Grok Not Responding on X? Fixes That Work

Grok replies never arrive inside X. Here is how to get responses flowing again.

Updated Aug 13, 2026

Grok inside X depends on both the X client and the xAI backend, so a stalled reply can come from either side.

Start with status

Open the status page. If service is degraded, stop here.

Fix the session

  1. Fully close the X app (swipe it away) and reopen it.
  2. Start a new Grok conversation rather than continuing a long thread.
  3. Turn off any VPN or DNS filter for x.com.
  4. Update the X app — old builds lose Grok access first during API changes.

The full checklist lives on Grok is not responding.

Blank or truncated replies

A reply that begins and cuts off is almost always a network timeout, not a model failure. Switch networks once to confirm. Repeated truncation on long outputs means you should ask for shorter sections.

Grok missing entirely from X

If the Grok icon is gone, it is an entitlement problem, not an outage — see subscription is not active.
