Charged Twice for Grok? How to Get a Refund

Duplicate Grok charges, what causes them, and the fastest route to a refund.

Updated Aug 13, 2026

Duplicate Grok charges usually mean two live subscriptions, not a payment bug.

Check for two subscriptions

Subscribing once through the App Store and once on the web creates two independent subscriptions. Both bill. Cancel the one you do not want from the store that created it — cancelling on the web does not cancel an App Store subscription.

Authorisation vs charge

A pending authorisation that drops off in a few days is not a second charge. Compare posted transactions only.

Requesting the refund

  1. Collect both receipt IDs and the exact posted dates and amounts.
  2. Refunds for App Store or Google Play purchases must go through that store, not xAI.
  3. Web purchases go through the billing contact on your receipt.

Prevent it happening again

Keep one payment surface. If access disappears after cancelling the duplicate, see subscription not active and Premium not active after payment.
